Superintelligence will be achieved within our lifetimes. Once artificial intelligence begins recursively self-improving, it will trigger an intelligence explosion, resulting in intelligence many orders of magnitude greater than all human minds combined. The pace of change will become so rapid that what emerges on the other side of this transformation will be incomprehensible to humans. This is the Singularity, and we are now in the acceleration phase.

On the path to the Singularity, all human problems become trivial. We solve disease, aging, and death. Radical abundance replaces scarcity, and we overcome all biological limitations. This is the end of the human era, and the beginning of the posthuman era.
